Ranganathittu Bird SBanctuary

About 25 kms from the Princely city of Mysore & about 3 kms off the road to Srirangapatna lies a small & charming bird sanctuary at Ranganathittu. It is a small group of very verdant islets on the river Kaveri. A short 20 minute ride on small boats yielded some good birdlife along with viewing marsh crocodiles at close proximity. Obviously the birds are used to human presence and it is possible to get  quite close to them.
